Carnival Celebration Cruise Ship Review First-hand Expert Review

celebration cruise line

The Gateway (midship on deck 6) houses the Latitudes Bar fitted with travel-themed chairs and menus and featuring a mechanical split-flap display board (listing the daily menu - cocktails, wines, spirits, special tastings/samplers). At Latitudes Bar are also held the Celebration Happy Hour event (with live entertainment) as well as private parties and special occasions (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc). Try’s Guy’s Pig & Anchor for an Easy BreakfastBreakfast is served in a lot of places around the ship, but if you want one of the easiest, then try Guy’s Pig & Anchor. The spot serves BBQ for lunch and dinner but for breakfast it offers the same lineup that you’ll get at the morning buffet (minus the omelet station).

How much does it cost to go on Carnival Celebration?

During the show, performers climb on these items as they rise three decks into the air. From there, they perform all sorts of acrobatics and contortions, spin, and more. Meanwhile, the video background screen offers even more visuals, while other performers move through the crowd and on stage.

This was one of the best excursions we experienced from start to finish. It was a very entertaining and informative class from start to finish. Knowing the different ingredients and cooking techniques that made the menu items complete was delightful. The Tabasco Chef class is located on the second floor of the prestigious Blu by Dolphinaris facility. So the location was incredible, and we enjoyed the fantastic views and watching the dolphins in the pools near the ocean. We were able to visit Guy’s Pig & Anchor and walk right up and be seated.

About Carnival Celebration

Go ahead and call Summer Landing 'the greatest chill spot at sea'... What's three letters long and goes great with chilling outdoors? BBQ, so we're building a Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse into this zone so it always tastes like summer here with freshly-smoked faves designed by Guy Fieri and original Parched Pig® beers brewed just feet away. If you're wondering where the pool and whirlpool are, we're so alike, you and us...

CENTER STAGE + PLAYLIST PRODUCTIONS

Meanwhile, it holds about 5,300 passengers at double occupancy, along with 1,800 crew members. Most of Carnival’s staterooms are designed with families in mind, too. In industry-speak, how easily passengers move about a ship is called “flow”. Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin. He has years of experience pleasing palates of vacationers… and this guy loves serving up a smile as much as Carnival does! But he’s serious about seafood, and an evening at Rudi’s proves it through the courses.

Carnival Celebration ship related cruise news

The 2022-built Carnival Celebration cruise ship is CCL fleet's second newest and largest liner of the Carnival XL-Class. All three units in this series are from the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft (shipyard Turku Finland). As with all other "Fun Ships", the shipowner is Carnival Corporation - the world's largest passenger shipping company. Order The Sakura From LatitudesOne of the unique bars on Celebration is the Latitudes — and not just for the cool flipboard sign (like you’d see in an old train station) that’s above the bar. The menu is filled with drinks inspired from around the world, from a paloma (Mexico) to a bramble (England).

Other specialty room options include the Family Harbor staterooms and suites, which are designed specifically with family needs in mind. If you book a Family Harbor stateroom or suite, you’ll get access to the Family Harbor Lounge, which provides snacks, board games, family movies, video games and more, all day long. Guests in these suites likewise get extra free amenities such as babysitting services and free dining for kids. Carnival Celebration's main dining rooms feature select items from the onboard steakhouse, available for an additional fee. Traditionally, shipboard dining includes a complimentary Lido Buffet Restaurant.

The ship was only completed in November 2022, with the delivery ceremony taking place at the shipyard early that month. The vessel became the first new Carnival cruise ship to arrive in the UK in 20 years for its maiden voyage out of Southampton on November 6, 2022. The ship first arrived at its homeport of PortMiami on November 20, and later that same day, the official naming ceremony took place at the new Terminal F. However, for its giant size and its status as the largest Carnival ship to date, that doesn’t make Carnival Celebration one of the world’s overall largest. As it currently stands as of the ship’s debut, it sits just outside the world’s Top 10 largest cruise ships. Carnival Celebration has the fleet's third "Big Chicken" restaurant at sea (by Shaquille O'Neal).

And it's clear that Celebration isn't your mother's, or grandmother's, Carnival cruise ship, taking the company into its next half-century with a more modern, updated version of Carnival's "Fun Ship" style. Carnival referenced this evolution when it chose Cassidy Gifford, daughter of Carnival's original spokeswoman Kathie Lee Gifford, as godmother of the ship, closing the books on the old era and welcoming in the new. Enjoy the latest and greatest from Carnival Cruise Line with a trip aboard Carnival Celebration. With so much to do and see and experience on this ship, you’ll find that our recommendations above just scratch the surface.

Rudi's Seagrill is a specialty restaurant (at surcharge / reservation fee) located on Deck 8 (between "Summer Landing" and "820 Biscayne") with indoor (80 seats) and outdoor seating (al fresco dining on The Lanai). The Seagrill offers appetizers, entrees and desserts, with all menu items presented as food faces. Signature dishes include Bigeye Tuna, Lemon-Stuffed Grilled Branzino, Seared Scallops, Salt-Roasted Prawns, Broiled Lobster Tails, Crab Cake, Caramel Apple Cheesecake, Chocolate Truffle Cake. Even when you’re looking to the future, you still think about the past.

And at first you might notice only a couple of things like the blueprints of past ships adorning the ceiling. But check out the QR code at the back of the drink menu for a link to information about all the items in the bar. There are the original doors that went to the nightclub on the retired Carnivale. The tables with Al Hirschfield drawings are from Carnival Fascination, and there is even a glass-wall panel that used to be in the casino on the original Mardi Gras.

Unlike their fleetmates, Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras both skip the soaring, multi-deck-high central atrium and replace it with a three-deck-high ocean-facing atrium along the ship's starboard (right-hand) side. The area was revamped and renamed Celebration Central area on this ship, decorated with color-changing lights designed to look like confetti. Guest services and shore excursions have been moved out of this central area to a more out-of-the-way spot on Deck 8 aft. Carnival's Excel-class ships offer more cabin types than ever before, with family cabins, Havana cabins with patio swings, and all kinds of suites. I stayed in a standard balcony cabin with my family of four and was impressed by how well designed the room was to accommodate four people in a small space. We sampled a few of Celebration's specialty restaurants, and they also impressed.

The ship is also the second Carnival vessel to bear the Celebration name. The first, known simply as Celebration, set sail for the line in 1987. It left the fleet in 2008 before ending up with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line as Grand Celebration, which was scrapped during the industry's pandemic pause in 2021. Now, Carnival Celebration resurrects the name to offer more fun to more people. To be fair, most of Carnival Celebration's modern updates were debuted on sister vessel Mardi Gras, which launched in 2021. Carnival Celebration is now the second ship in the fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas.

Here you’ll find everything from the main pool to the buffet, an aft pool with bar, Guy’s Burger Joint, the Serenity adults-only area, and the Ultimate Playground. The main activity on the interior of the ship goes from Deck 6 through Deck 8. These three decks run the length of Celebration, with everything from theaters to restaurants to shops to a pool (Deck 8). We found these areas relatively easy to navigate as they run through the ship, though they do wind and weave some.

Carnival Celebration will be the second vessel in the line's Excel class of ships, preceded by Mardi Gras which in 2021. But don't expect this new ship to be a carbon copy of its sibling. This was my first visit to Rudi’s Seagrill and I enjoyed the superb seafood and other items we chose. It has a very high-end experience feel, and I would consider it for a romantic dinner during your cruise.

Your guide to the 2023 Woodward Dream Cruise: What you need to know

woodward cruise

"Collaborating with the Woodward Dream Cruise is very important to Ford Motor Company because we strive to contribute and give back in meaningful ways to the communities where we live, work... and cruise." Attendees can hop on a free SMART dream cruise shuttle from 8 Mile to Pontiac. Passengers can board at any RED SMART or FAST bus stops along Woodward. In addition, the event website shared a Facebook account where the community shares more information about where visitors can find parking and other events. The Woodward Dream Cruise is a spectacular experience to drive, or, merely watch and marvel from the sidelines. Public parking is available along or near the cruise route.

WXYZ Editorial: Why the Woodward Dream Cruise is so important to Detroit

This had resulted in the federal government's Corporate Average Fuel Economy regulations of 1975 and the proliferation, temporarily, of more fuel-efficient and less powerful automobiles. However, the Woodward Dream Cruise also welcomes vehicles of all models whose owners have either scrupulously maintained or customized their car to create a unique vehicle or statement. At M1 Concourse, over 600 cars in 13 classes including  hot rods, race cars, muscle cars and cruisers will be on display and compete in exhibition competitions. This year, kids will get in free, live music is expected and there will be shaded seating for 1,000 guests. In addition, there will be a live reveal about noon of Mobsteel's Lincoln Coupe.

SMART bus options and bypasses

Registration is $40 until Wednesday  and will be $45 the day of the race. Nine Oakland County cities participate along a 16-mile radius of Woodward. Big-finned Caddys, classic Corvettes, souped-up dragsters, and even the venerable 1997 Honda Civic Type R, which turns 25 this year, will be lined up bumper-to-bumper Saturday for the 27th annual Woodward Dream Cruise.

WATCH: WXYZ-TV's 2022 Woodward Dream Cruise Special

Mobsteel is a design company that focuses on manufacturing automotive aftermarket products. Every year, the event draws in about 1.5 million people who can expect to see over 400,000 cars, including muscle, street rods, custom builds, collector cars and special edition vehicles participating in the cruise. Car enthusiasts can enjoy some classic cars before the main event from noon to 7 p.m. There are no fees to cruise in the event or to watch. Anyone can participate although, those not driving a classic car are asked to stay out of the two right lanes nearest to the curb.

Woodward Dream Cruise

Starting as early as Thursday, car enthusiasts will crowd Woodward and surrounding communities to showcase their wheels. It began as an effort by Nelson House plus a group of volunteers seeking to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale. They also wanted to re-create the nostalgic era of the 1950s and '60s, with music and cars roaming down Woodward. The first year brought in 250,000 people and has grown each year since then. Auto enthusiasts from all over the world, including New Zealand, Japan and Australia, flock to the cruise annually for a taste of car history in Michigan. We're revving our engines, getting ready for the cruise.

In addition to the photo galleries, videos, and news you'll find here, watch for live coverage Dream Cruise week on 7 Action News. WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and WOMC-FM  (104.3) will be broadcasting live from Birmingham. Parking for this event can be found in one of six Birmingham parking structures; metered parking will also be  available. On Friday and Saturday at West 12 Mile, official Woodward Dream Cruise merchandise will be available for purchase all day.

When and where is the Woodward Dream Cruise?

Police departments from each community patrol on foot, horseback and vehicles during the Cruise to ensure a safe and family-friendly environment for everyone. A team of amateur radio operators also serve as additional “eyes and ears” of law enforcement officials along the Cruise route. The Woodward Dream Cruise is an alcohol-free, family-oriented event. As public safety is paramount, cruisers are asked to obey all rules of the road. The Woodward Dream Cruise is an annual automotive enthusiast event held in the northern suburbs of Detroit. Held each year on the third Saturday in August, the Cruise runs along Woodward Avenue, a major thoroughfare in the region, from Ferndale to Pontiac.

Prior to the organizing of the Dream Cruise residents of the west side of Detroit and the western Detroit suburban communities had been cruising Woodward Avenue since the 1940s. The ad hoc cruising caused traffic jams on many summer evenings, automobile accidents and included many cruisers drinking and driving. With the organizing of the Dream Cruise most of these bad influences simply disappeared. From noon to 7 p.m., live music will be performed in the arena next to the biergarten.

Official cruise merchandise will be available for purchase there as well. Pre-registering is available online or on the day of, sign-up will be available at  Shrine Catholic High School.

In late April/early May kids are usually still in school, and they are usually back to school by September. The number of families and kids will of course vary based on the cruise line and cruise ship you choose. There are also certain times of the Bermuda cruise season that are preferred if you would like to avoid crowds. The busiest time of year for cruises to Bermuda usually coincides with warmer weather and summer break. Bermuda snorkeling provides a spectacular mix of marine environments for beginners and experts alike, from teeming coral reefs to centuries-old shipwrecks. Choose your port of departure depending on how many days you want to spend exploring Bermuda and all it has to offer.

May to October is considered the high season, with April and November bringing slightly cooler but still pleasant weather. Expect average highs of 68°F in April and 72°F in November. If you intend to play golf, check the dress code of the courses you want to play. A collared shirt with sleeves and shorts the length of Bermuda shorts is standard. Stateroom photos are for sample purposes only -- actual design and layout may vary. I have read the Bermuda Government requirements for immunized people, but I am wondering how arrival covid testing is accomplished when you are on a cruise ship at the port for three days. It doesnt make sense that you would have to stay on the ship until you received a negative test result when you had to have a negative test result to get on the ship. You can't visit Bermuda without tasting Gosling's Black Seal Rum. And luckily, it's a main ingredient in a ton of Bermuda favorites.

And the sea days are your chance to experience all the ship has to offer in the way of entertainment. The island is only 21-square miles, so anything you want to see and do should be within reach. On a westbound Transatlantic cruise, you’ll have four days at sea between the Azores and Bermuda. On an eastbound voyage, you’ll leave Tampa and arrive in Bermuda after three days at sea.

While you're down there, you can see barracudas, parrot fish and angelfish, as well as many species of colorful coral. Discover a history-filled paradise full of pink sand beaches with a cruise to Bermuda. Bermuda has several Moongates located around the island. Lucky for us cruisers, there is one right in Dockyard fairly close to the cruise ships. Bermudas City of Hamilton is the most central by far of Bermudas three cruise ship ports but the citys harbour and docks can only accommodate up to medium-size cruise ships, no mega-ships. Also nearby is Stonehole Bay, a beautiful combination of pale pink sand, cyan water, and craggy rocks.

Made up of 102 floors and coming in at over 1,200 feet tall, the observation deck offers an unbeatable view of the Manhattan skyline. However, the weather in Bermuda is temperate and semi-tropical which means it never really gets too warm in the summer, and there is always a light breeze. My husband and I first walked through this Moongate in 2008 during our first visit to Bermuda by cruise. Since then weve gone through it each and every time weve returned. From the sun-dappled Caribbean to the quaint Canadian coast, you wont believe how many incredible places you can sail to on a cruise out of the New York area.

In main and specialty dining, we ask guests to refrain from wearing swimsuits, see-through coverups or robes, bare feet, tank tops, T-shirts, and baseball caps. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. Bermuda's cuisine reflects its diverse cultural history. From traditional fish stews to island takes on the classic English fish and chips, the bounty of the ocean is what brings together this culinary tapestry. We know the destinations you'll be visiting and what there is to see, do and experience.

However, with this optimal weather comes increased crowds and increased price. So, you will have to weigh these factors carefully when deciding whats the best time for you to take a Bermuda cruise. For the best prices, we tend to book our Bermuda cruises a year in advance.

Aport cityfor hundreds of years and Bermudas single main attraction and main shoppingarea by a very wide margin. From here there are frequent by-day buses and ferry service going east to the Town of St. George and west to the RoyalNaval Dockyard . Choose from our 4-5 day Bermuda cruises, many of which include weekend sailings, and escape to an otherworldly paradise. We recommend a cruise to Bermuda for people seeking an easy summer vacation. You’ll dock there for multiple days, providing time to explore.

Ay present.there hasnt been a cruise arrival in Bermuda of any sort in Bermuda for over a year due to the Covid-19 crisis,. So, there is NO Covid arrival protocol in place for a non-event. When there are non-Bermuda based cruise arrivals, there will be one. Beautiful views of the length of the fjord are found at Cap Trinite, a cliff that rises above the channel with a 33-foot statue of the Virgin Mary surveying the scenery from the lowest ledge.

A hike on the Chilkoot Trail or ride on the White Pass Railway lets you follow in the footsteps of the miners who came to seek their fortunes. You'll have up to two days of scenic cruising, in addition to sailing the Inside Passage. Because Gulf of Alaska cruises sail farther north, scenic destinations might include College Fjord, in addition to Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier.

For 2022, Norwegian has five different ships cruising Alaska, so you can choose the onboard experience that's perfect for you. You can even choose to book a Cruisetour, which is a combination of a Norwegian Alaska cruise and a few days of land travel. To get your Alaska cruise planning started, here's a look at what you need to know about Norwegian's selection of 2022 Alaska cruises. Alaska's impressive southern coastlines contain hordes of island archipelagos, deep fjords and ancient glaciers. Nearly all of the area is roadless, so seafaring vessels, including cruise ships, are a popular way for visitors to experience these pristine areas.

Princess Inside Passage with Endicott Arm

If living large is your goal, you're not going to find anything better than this — other than with a cruise on a similar Norwegian vessel that also cruises to Alaska from Seattle. Norwegian Bliss, also based in Washington during the summer, is part of the same Norwegian Breakaway-Plus class of vessels and has a similar Haven enclave. The pool area, a true stunner, comes with comfortable padded loungers, a pool and whirlpools. Its retractable glass roof is perfect for cruises to Alaska when the weather is iffy.

Various wildlife-viewing trips (whale, bears and more) and visits to dog-sled camps and salmon bakes leave from Juneau. Generally, these one-way sailings travel from Seward or Whittier (the cruise ports closest to Anchorage) to Vancouver (or vice versa). Most itineraries are seven nights, but you'll find a handful that are longer. Nearly every major cruise line has a presence in Alaska from May through mid-September, with some offering sailings as early as April or as late as October. Cold temperatures, icy waters and a long snowy season are not conducive to early spring and late fall cruises. One of the key reasons to cruise Alaska versus taking a land tour is to visit destinations along the Inside Passage that you cannot reach by road.

Alaska's capital city is interesting because no road leads from here to the rest of the state. It's located at the base of Mount Juneau, and you can only get there via boat or small plane — even residents have to bring their cars to Juneau via ferry. Home to Mendenhall Glacier, this is a popular port for hikes by, kayak tours to and helicopter landings on the glacier. Active travelers can explore Alaska by sea kayak or canoe, hike on glaciers and through rainforests, zip line, bike, ride an ATV and even snorkel (you'll need a dry suit). If you want to cruise Alaska but also see some of the interior and enjoy a stay in a lodge or hotel, go for a cruisetour package from either Holland America or Princess Cruises. Both have fantastic itineraries that take passengers not only to the Inside Passage, but also to Anchorage, Denali National Park, the Yukon, Kenai Peninsula, Talkeetna and Fairbanks.

7-day alaska cruise from seattle

Nearly a dozen major cruise ships operate Alaska cruises out of Seattle during the summer months, giving cruisers plenty of choice. The best Alaska cruises out of Seattle for retirees, in our view, are the sailings offered by Holland America on both the 1,964-passenger Westerdam and 2,104-passenger Eurodam. We give Westerdam the slight edge for reasons we will explain below. When sailing to Alaska, these ships also offer other kid-friendly events, such as Puppies on Princess, when dog mushers and their newest sled dogs come on board for meet-and-greets (and photos!). Notably, both Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore boast large private zones for solo travelers — something you won't find on any other cruise ship sailing out of Seattle. Our pick for the best Alaska cruises from Seattle for budget travelers may come as a surprise to many cruise aficionados.

You'll find magnificent mountains (often snowcapped, even in the summertime), lush forests, waterfalls, fjords and calving glaciers. If it's marine life you've come to see, you'll find it in abundance, from whales and dolphins to sea lions and harbor seals. On land, you'll likely spy bears and Dall sheep while eagles, puffins and a host of seabirds circle above. Weeklong itineraries generally embark in either Seattle or Vancouver, British Columbia — though some itineraries originate in Juneau. A few lines, such as Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Cunard Line, offer 10-night Inside Passage cruises from Seattle or Vancouver. Instead of taking a long and expensive flight to Anchorage or Fairbanks, you can choose a cruise that sails round-trip from Seattle or Vancouver (note, you won't be able to tack on a post-cruise land trip to Denali if you do this).

There were very few Carnival sailings available for under $750 per person, with most Carnival sailings starting around $800 per person or more for seven nights. Here we list our top picks for the best Alaska cruises from Seattle for six different types of travelers. Other cruises might be best for solo travelers or travelers on a tight budget. Have a front-row seat to thunderous glaciers and crystalline fjords on this superb Vista-class ship.

Plus, many of the state's famous glaciers are best viewed from the sea. Lots of adventure awaits you in Seward where you can go kayaking, mountain biking, dog-sledding, fishing, and more. For a more physically intense experience, considering hiking Seward Exit Glacier or the Harding Icefield Trail. Unlike the Royal Caribbean and Norwegian ships mentioned above, the two Princess ships sailing from Seattle don't have top decks heavily skewed to family fun.

If you have the time, these cruise packages give you the best of both worlds for exploring Alaska's coastal communities and some of the top sights in Alaska's heartland, including Denali National Park. Longer cruises, like the Holland America Alaska Arctic Solstice Cruise spans 28 days, and will take you from your port to the Arctic Circle. The course begins in Seattle and leads through the Inside Passage, Prince William Sound, and up to Anchorage. Then, you’ll travel over to Kodiak Island, out to the far stretches of the Aleutian Islands to Dutch Harbor, and around to Nome, and through the Arctic Circle. Some cruise lines offer pre or post-cruise fly-in opportunities to remote areas of Alaska, like leaving from Fairbanks to the visit the Arctic Circle. If you're looking for a vacation that offers the benefits of an on-land experience, Norwegian offers Alaska Cruisetours ranging from 11 days to 14 days.

This is also the trip for a camera with good telephoto lenses and binoculars. For more on what to bring on an Alaska cruise, check out our Alaska cruise packing list. Kids can hang out in the youth lounges while parents hit the spa or try a wine-tasting class. Everyone can come back together for dinner and evening entertainment or onboard activities suitable for all ages.

Dive into The Points Guy's Alaska cruise guide for all the planning tips you need for your dream cruise up north. Your Holland America Line ship’s Casino offers a wide array of gaming options. Whether you prefer slot machines or want to try your hand at blackjack or poker, our dealers and staff are available to provide complimentary instruction — and we offer many engaging tournament options. Icy Strait Point offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Alaska. Book a kayaking tour, go halibut fishing, go off-roading in an ATV, or head out for a relaxing whale watching tour. One of the most popular excursions in Ketchikan is to see the Misty Fjords, where you can watch for bald eagles, learn about the fjords, and see a volcanic spire rising up from the sea.

The bathroom comes with a dual-sink vanity, full-size whirlpool bath and shower, plus additional shower stall. Amenities include use of the exclusive Neptune Lounge, a private concierge and an array of complimentary services. Westerdam is also a slightly smaller ship than Eurodam, and as a result, its demographics on any given sailing are more likely to skew toward a retired crowd. To the extent that families with younger kids book Holland America ships, they are more likely to book one of its larger vessels. While Holland America draws some families with younger children, the passengers on its ships skew heavily toward middle-aged and older travelers, including many retirees. If you're nearing or already have hit retirement age and prefer to travel mostly with people who are at a similar stage in life as you, you'll feel right at home on a Holland America ship.
